Chapter 9. He’s Engaged
Brie POV
“Are you sure you don’t want us to notify Hunter about the birth of his children?” Marcus asked.
“What is the use of telling him? I don’t think he would be
interested.” I said, my voice sounding flat.
It was the next morning, and the babies were already delivered to my hospital suite.
It was like there was a party in here. My brothers brought balloons, cakes, and party poppers they did not get the chance to pop because Jenna forbade them.
I almost laughed at the disappointed look on Rowan’s face. Even with his glasses on, I could tell that Jenna’s orders just spoiled his fun.
“Don’t push sis to that j*rk. She already chose us. Don’t let her change her mind about us again.” Flint reminded Marcus.
“I am not saying she should get back to him. All I am saying is that Noah Hunter has to know he has fathered three cute little boys.” Marcus said, gesturing to my sons, who were sleeping in their special cot at the hospital.
“Do you think he would be interested?” Charles butted in before brandishing his phone in the air.
Marcus took it, and after looking at the screen, he returned the phone back to Charles with a frown forming on his face.
“That b*stard!” He muttered under his breath.
I was looking at my children’s faces, but half of my attention was on my brothers and the subject of their conversation.
Marcus’s expletive alerted me. I knew it had something to do with my ex–husband, but I feigned ignorance and concentrated on my
I don’t want my brothers to think I was still interested in what was happening with my ex. Though I must admit, part of me is curious as to why Marcus had to react strongly to what Charles showed
There was silence before my babies started wailing.
“I think they are hungry,” Jenna told me, smiling.
I am sure she also heard my brothers and was only being discreet in deference to my feelings. Their silence was telling enough that whatever Charles showed Marcus was something that could potentially hurt me.
My brothers and I never talked about what happened. They were always careful mentioning Noah’s name in front of me. Probably because during the first month after the divorce, I was so upset every time I heard his name.
What I never told my brothers was that over time, I already accepted what happened to my marriage. It still hurts whenever I think about Noah, but instead of moping about my failed marriage, I decided to concentrate on my kids, ensuring they were safe in my womb.
Jenna walked up to me. She picked one of the babies while I picked one.
Holding the babies in my arms, I realized I could not breastfeed with my brothers around.
Jenna must have sensed my predicament. She faced the four giant men and demanded.
“Boys, Briana needs to breastfeed the babies.”
If I weren’t looking, I would not see the horrified expressions on their faces, but I was.
I tried so hard to stifle my laughter after seeing my brothers look at each other in confusion, faces flaming red, before filing toward the door and getting out one by one, leaving me alone with Jenna and my three babies.
“They’re gone,” Jenna told me.
She assisted me while I fed and burped the babies before lulling the three of them back to sleep.
Then, she helped me put them back on their cot before I lay down on the bed beside them.
“Are you sleepy?”
I nodded.
“I will leave then. Don’t worry. I will tell the boys not to disturb you.” She assured me before going out.
My suite includes a reception area where my brothers can stay to allow me private time with my children.
When the door closed on Jenna, I quickly took out my phone and checked the news. I wanted to know what Charles showed Marcus.

It did not take me sleuthing skills to find out what made Marcus curse when I saw what I was looking for a photograph of Noah greeted me. But he was not alone. He was with Britney White. The report said that Britney had been with his side since he left the country, and they looked happy.
“Hotelier Noah Hunter’s Newfound Love,” The report says.
I stared at the face of the man who used to be my husband and felt an ache prick my heart.
In the photograph, Noah was smiling indulgently at his true love, and I could not help feeling envious. Here is the woman Noah truly loves. The one woman he could not forget even when he was married to me.
I bit my lip, and without thinking, I dialed the number of the only person whom I could talk to at Hunter Enterprises after everyone shunned me and treated me like a persona non grata.
“Briana! It’s been so long.”
I smiled wistfully when I heard the pleasure in her voice. “Hello, Hanna.”
Her ears must have perked up something in my voice. “You sounded sad. Did you hear the news? Is this why you’ve been calling me.” a
“I saw an article about Noah and his girl on the web,” I admitted.
“But you did not know that he proposed to her?” Hanna surprised me with the news.
It rendered me speechless.
