Chapter 0161
Now, all of that was gone. But who could I blame for it all?
At the end of the day, was I the one who destroyed the relationship between the Hawk family? Or was Claudia the one who had ruined my marriage with Nicholas?
Would a normal family have a sister who was obsessed with possessing their own brother?
The woman who Frances had referred to as Jasmine covered her
mouth shyly. She smiled faintly, showcasing her dimples.
“Frances, I’m sure Claudia and Nicholas will be fine. Why don’t we sit and wait for a while? It won’t take long for the doctors to stitch up a wound.”
There was an air of elegance and grace around the woman. She looked at me and said, “Hello, miss. Could you please move aside. for Frances to sit? She rushed over here, so she’s exhausted by the journey.”
I didn’t want to move, but my hands and feet felt like they had been tied up by an invisible string, slowly pulling me into a deep abyss. It even felt difficult to breathe.
The woman was carrying a branded handbag, and there was a string of wooden beads attached to her bag coming into sight as she
moved.
The beads were big and did not seem to be the size of a woman’s bracelet. The branded bag made the beads look old and out of place. But the more out of place the beads looked, the clearer I could see them.
My brain immediately went blank as I felt like my surroundings had been covered in a huge sheet. I recalled a conversation I had with Nicholas some time back.
“Where’s your beads?”
“It’s been some time since I stopped wearing them.”
The woman before me stretched her hand out and said, “Hello, my name is Jasmine Cooper. Do you like my beads?”
She used her hand to show me the beads and said, “I also liked them a lot. Why don’t I make one for you the next time we meet?
“My friend was the one who gave me these beads, so they hold a special meaning for me. Hence, I can’t give them to you. I hope you’ll be able to understand.”
Understand? What was I supposed to understand? I stared at the string of beads and felt a wave of nausea. I didn’t know if was the world or if it was due to my body, but my surroundings began to spin.
Jasmine’s words replayed in my mind, drumming loudly into my skull until her voice had become distorted.
I had carefully gotten close to Nicholas and fallen for his gentle and calm demeanor. I would feel sorry and guilty, thinking that I was hurting him. I had even agreed to not make things difficult for Claudia on his behalf.
Those countless hugs, kisses, and intimate moments where I could. feel myself getting lost in the feeling of him only felt pathetic now.
If he had maintained a clear mind during his time with me, then our relationship would have become a game. Perhaps, he had never been sincere from the start. Then what was the point of hi
confession tonight?
1 felt like someone had stabbed me in the heart, but what was the point of the pain and disappointment I was feeling?
I felt someone shove my shoulders hard. I staggered back and moved away from the long chairs. Frances said in a tone of warning. Ar must you ruin our family?”
Frances‘ question only amused me, causing me to laugh out loud The feeling of being bullied without anyone to rely on came rushing back
I came to my senses, lifted my stiff arm, and pointed at Jasmine.” Frances, who is she? Why is she here?”
