Chapter 198
Helen looked fearfully at the two police officers. “What do you want?” No one answered her as she was led out of the police station. Once outside, she saw Irene leaning against the car door. “Get in,” she said.
Sitting in the car, it finally hit Helen–she was free! She gaped at Irene. “Ms. White, you really did save me. But I have to know, how did you manage it?” Ever since the incident at the water, Yonas and Morgan had combined efforts to suppress the Flynn residence, which was why Xavier refused to help her. Releasing her from under the Russell family and Morgan must have taken a lot of effort.
Irene chuckled softly, her eyes full of mockery. “Simple, just found a scapegoat. That smile sent a shiver down Helen’s spine.
“You truly are something. Ms. White, Helen praised reluctantly.
“Don’t celebrate too early. The cost to rescue you is steep” Irene remarked
“I understand. Ms. White, Helen responded. She was fully committed when it came to dealing with Yasmine
The news of Helen being released reached Yasmine quickly while she was watering Bowers with Morgan. “Xavier sure knows how to handle things.” Morgan chuckled.
Yasmine let droplets of water fall on the blossoms and smiled, “It wasn’t Xavier this time. Previously, Xavier had been the one tirelessly solving Helen’s issues, but not this time.
“Irene!” Morgan guessed casually
Yasmine nodded, “In the incident at the racetrack last time, Helen had guidance from someone behind the scenes. The only one capable of staying unscathed and getting Helen out too was her. Unlike anyone she had met before, Irene was intriguing, cunning, capable, daring, and bold.
“Yasmine, she does have flaws Morgan’s words immediately made Yasmine realize that although Irene seemed perfect, her fatal flaw was Yonas. “I’ll have someone continue to investigate the racetrack incident. Framing someone involves coercion and temptation, there’s bound to be a loose end,” Morgan said seriously.
At the Flynn residence, Yvette sat motionless by the window, feeling powerless. Ever since Xavier had brought her back home, he hadn’t said a single word to her. She had tried everything she could think of, but the colder Xavier was towards her, the more she despised Yasmine.
Someone knocked the door. “Yvette came Helen’s voler
Yvette’s heart skipped a beat, filled with shock. How could it be Helen? Wasn’t she taken away by the police? Just yesterday, Selena had been pleading with Xavier to save Helen. How was she free already? She rushed to open the door, only to realize she wasn’t hearing things. “Helen? You’re
Helen could see the faint worry on Yvette’s brow and knew right away there had been another light with her brother. “Yvette, I won’t let that witch Yasmine get away with this. My brother’s always arguing with you because of her, you must hate her too, right!” Her eyes glearned with a twisted delight, her hands clenched as if she could crush Yasmine with her bare hands.
Yvene’s eyes dimmed with helplessness as she said, “Helen, it’s really hard to deal with her since she’s got so many people protecting her. Besides, your brother always thinks I’m out to hurt her.
She paused, her eyes welling up with tears, and continued, “She’s like a thorn in my eye, the more I leave it, the deeper it goes. But even if removing it tears my skin and muscles, I still want her dead.” This was the first time Yvette had revealed her true feelings. She was on the verge of breaking down, and the hatred in her eyes was like an arrow, piercing through her long held facade.
Helen smiled contentedly “Don’t worry, Yasmine’s biggest enemy isn’t us. We’ve been on her side right from the start
Yvette studied intently, a sharp glint in her eyes, “You mean her! Now that’s a great teammate.
“But there’s one more thing before that, Helen said, her eyes clouded with darkness.
At six in the evening. Xavier returned home from work, still unaware of Helen’s return. He massaged his temples, dreading that as soon as he stepped inside, Selena would latch onto him again, fussing for him to release Helen, while Yvette was still stressed over the issue with Yasmine.
Suddenly, the door burst open and there stood Helen, glaring at him with anger. “Xavier, you treat me like this just for Yasmine? Mom has been begging you, yet you refuse to help inc. You don’t see me as your sister at allf

Xavier frowned deeply, feeling dizzy. He leaned against the doorframe, his voice cold. “I don’t see you as a sister? Then I shouldn’t have saved you those previous times!”
“You’ve finally admitted it. You never actually wanted to save me. It was always Mom begging you, and that’s the only reason you ever stepped in to help. Helen’s eyes brimmed with endless resentment.
Xavier’s gaze was icy and distant. For the first time, he regarded Helen closely. “Say that again,” he demanded, a dangerous edge in his eyes.
Helen’s eyes were red, her mouth opening and closing as she hesitated to speak. She was genuinely afraid of Xavier. With their mother not at home. she had no one to protect her now,
Yvette quickly stepped in to diffuse the situation. “Come on, Xavier, Helen just got out and is naturally feeling a bit agitated and wronged. Helen, you should say less. Trust me, your brother would never leave you behind. I’ve seen him on the phone multiple times in the study, pulling strings to help you find someone
Helen sneered, “Yvene, you’re speaking up for him, but he won’t appreciate it. He’s completely bewitched by that seductress Yasmine. Forget about me, if Yasmine so much as wags her tail, he’ll drop everything to go to her.
Xavier shot a sharp look, his eyes like a deep, unfathomable icy pool. “Shut up.”
“Why should I shut up! I haven’t said anything wrong. When have you ever not defended that witch? Helen’s voice was hoarse with a touch of madness.
Xavier walked over with a cold face, raising his hand to deliver a heavy slap. Helen’s face was knocked to the side, and Xavier said grimly. “You still dare to say such things after making a mistake? Mom has really spoiled you. For the next few days, you’re staying home and not allowed to go out. Otherwise, don’t ever return to the Flynn family!”
Helen clutched her face, glaring at him with resentment. “The moment she got into trouble, you rushed to protect her, but when it’s me, you don’t care at all Will you tell Yvette to her face that you don’t like Yasmine?”
Xavier glanced at Yvette, who fiddled with her hands, looking pitiful. He realized that he had indeed gone too far these past few days. He stepped forward to Yvette, speaking softly, “Yvette, I’m sorry She’s my ex–wife, and when I saw she was in danger, I just wanted to make sure no one got hurt.” He pulled Yvette into his arms, her eyes moist, as she nodded slightly.
Helen wasn’t about to let him off the hook so easily, quickly adding, “Fine, then you can’t defend her ever again!”
Xavier furrowed his brow, about to refuse, but then he caught Yvette’s gaze. Instinctively, he said, “Alright.”
Yvette snuggled against Xavier’s shoulder, flashing a smile at Helen.
