Chapter 340
“How’s the ‘Chasing The Light‘ project progressing? William asked as Linda fed Lexi
“Everything is going fairly smoothly so far,” Linda replied.
“If you encounter any issues, don’t hesitate to contact me,” William offered.
“It’s unlikely that there will be any problems, but thank you anyway,” Linda said.
Although Linda wasn’t very well–known in the industry, her recent collaborations with various officials had attracted considerable attention.
The project was high–profile, and the focus was on whether those involved had prior experience working with the officials. Linda did have that experience, and the officials feedback about her had been positive.
With Luke’s support, she could have secured the project even without William’s assistance.
Linda had resources and preferred to limit her involvement with William. She knew that getting entangled with him could lead to complicated situations she wanted to avold. Hence, she made a deliberate effort to keep her distance.
William wasn’t surprised by her response.
She had grown beyond the young girl she once was. As people matured, their perspectives and opinions changed. Her lack of affection for him was a natural outcome of that growth
“I understand you have many connections and resources. However, if you ever find yourself in a tough spot, I hope you’ll reach out to me. I never intended to get involved in the entertainment industry if you weren’t a part of it,” William said.
Linda placed a vegetable pancake in Lexi’s bowl “You can have less rice, but n
rice, but make sure to finish this vegetable pancake.”
Lex nodded obediently.
Linda looked at William and said, “So, according to you, y William was taken aback. That wasn’t what he meant. “Linda”
you’re making money because of me? But Thaven’t received a
any money from you.”
“I’m not mentioning this to make you feel grateful. It’s true I got the idea to enter the entertainment industry because of you, but it’s not what you think ”
She met his gase with a smile.
“Then, tell me. What do you think I’m thinking?”
*Are you a mind reader? How do you know what I’m thinking? Don’t confuse my thoughts with your own. I find such behavior very impolite. Has it become your habit to assume others‘ intentions?”
Linda’s words were tinged with sarcasın.
William had a history of making assumptions about others thoughts when they were together
“Linda,
a, many things in the past might have been coincidental.”
Willam wasn’t trying to defend himself. He was pointing out that some events were cleverly orchestrated by Joanne. It led everyone to believe things were one way, though they weren necessarily 10,
“But you can’t expect everything in this world to be mere coincidence. You can’t make me believe that everything happens by chance. What I’ve experienced and what you’ve seen
are different.
“You can’t empathize with me, and you have no right to dictate what I should believe. The things I hold onto are the ones that have left a deep mark on me. They ware things that still bring tears to my eyes in the middle of the night”
