Chapter 6
Vera Clayton:
It was a perfect dream. My niate saved me, and he didn’t stop there. He gave me his mark.
I smiled, excitement rolling off me, and with it, sleep followed. My eyes fluttered open, and I couldn’t help but smile as I
up
on the same bed.
woke
Butterflies raked my lower body, leaving me needy. It still felt too good to be true.
I started asking myself if it had happened if this was just another extension of my dreams, and if I was still someone undergoing torture in Nicholas’s dungeon.
Maybe my body had gone through so much pain that it had managed to create this world for me to live in.
It happened. Vera. We got marked, Aiya confirmed in my head.
But even her voice seemed too good to be true. The throbbing between my legs should have given me the assurance I needed, but I wanted to be sure.
I have been hurt too many times to believe this dream.
I got off the bed and walked to the large dressing mirror. My flushed face was no surprise, but the mark glaring back at me from the mirror caused a warmth to begin deep within my stomach and spread all over me in slow motion.
“It wasn’t a dream, I whispered as my fingers brushed slightly over it.
Aiya rolled her eyes at me, trying to remind me that she had told me, but I didn’t care.
The mark was everything I had hoped for. The love story I had been searching for was finally starting.
I let out a soft squeal as excitement threatened to explode within me.
Blaise…
The words were barely out of my mouth when a knock on my door pulled me from the mirror.
My heart jumped, and the heat on my face spread as my mind conjured up his beautiful face.
“He must have come to see me,” I whispered as I hurriedly approached the door.
I adjusted the small silky nightwear I had on before placing my left hand to heart, calming it.
When I was less of a tomato and more of a strawberry in appearance, I took a deep breath. Then I pulled the door a smile on my face.
But the second my eyes landed on the door, my smile fell off. Even Aiya was disappointed..
It wasn’t Blaise.
*Hmm, I can see that disappointment, the said with a big smile.
My manners failed me. I couldn’t bring myself to smile back at her.
She clicked her tongue and stretched out her hand to me. I am Laleh. Blaise sister. You must be Vera.

Chapter 6
Knowing who she was. Aiya forced me to produce a smile and return her greeting.
“Hi” My voice was normal, but my eyes checked the space behind her, hoping he would show up.
My discreet search was cut short as Laleh grabbed my hands and pulled me back into the room.
“Oh goddess. Blaise is so lucky. You are very gorgeous,
Vera.”
O
My cheeks heated up, and this time, my smile wasn’t forced.
“Thank you. You are beautiful too,” I responded politely.
She waved her left hand and a soft, melodious laughter filled the room. “Oh please, everybody knows that Laleh wasn’t blessed with the looks… She trailed off and I frowned.
But before I could speak, she left my side and moved to the wardrobe.
“We need to get you clothes. You will be a Luna soon and that means you only need to step out looking extra beautiful…” Her voice got lost in the large wardrobe and I followed her movements but her words had distracted me.
The
prospects of being a Luna. A position I have never really wanted but secretly craved. I was an Alpha’s daughter and even though I was born a Gamma, being Luna was something I dreamed of.
And Blaise was going to make it come true without me even asking him.
He was too perfect and my heart was starting to feel anxious as thousands of questions flooded my mind.
What if this was all too good to be true?
“You should wear these,” Laleh announced, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I blinked once as I slowly turned my head to the clothes she held before my eyes. It was a simple blue dress that looked too beautiful to be worn at home.
My eyes slowly moved to her face with questions already swimming within them. “Isn’t this- are we going somewhere?” Laleh slapped a hand to her face and her smile turned even brighter for reasons beyond me,
“Oh, I am sorry. We are going to see the doctor. Blaise, isn’t that they take very good care of you.‘ Her eyes moved to her wrist watch and she let out a soft cry.
“Goddess, we are already running late. Please hurry and get into this. I will get us breakfast for so long” With that she left the room, leaving me to finish with my morning business.
If it was left to me to decide, I wouldn’t go to the doctor. I still had a few aches here and there in the places where Nicholas had tortured me but it was nothing I hadn’t gone through before.
But since Blaise wanted me treated, I was more than happy to go. Besides, there was a huge chance that he would come and check on me there.
I took my bath as fast as I could. Then threw on the dress Laleh had picked for me. It fit right in like they had gotten my size before now
I was tying my hair up in a bun when Laleh returned.
She brought a tray of food with her and I tried my best to pick through it. I was already on the big side of the size chart and that wasn’t even because of food but depression.
Chapter 6
The last thing I needed was to get even larger and become a nightmare for Blaise. I wanted to remain the way he liked.
I wanted to have it all with him for the rest of my life. And that meant, I was ready to do whatever he wanted.
“Shall we?” 1 beamed at Laleh and she raised her brows with amusement.
You are a water person
Interesting,” she mumbled and a cloud of confusion sat on my face as I stared at her.
You get happy after a shower. Come on let’s go, she laughed, pulling me along with her.
I found myself enjoying the sound of her laughter more than I wanted to admit.
I let Laleh lead me to the hospital and we walked straight to the doctor’s office.
“It’s our family doctor. You will love her,” Laleh explained as she knocked on the door, and then pushed it open.
A middle–aged woman with wise eyes got up from her work chair and her face brightened as she saw us more like when she saw Laleh.
“Laleh, what a pleasant surprise. I thought Blaise would come himself, she declared and Aiya shifted within me to support the older woman.
As if she felt my inner turmoil, she turned to me, her bright smile never dimming.
“You must be our Blaise’s beautiful mate, Vera. I am Sarah.” Her hands reached for mine and she held them with such warmth, I found myself getting along with her without even trying.
She placed me on a machine and did a series of tests on me, taking her time to heal every spot she could find.
“Vera, you will have to come back tomorrow. By then, I will have all of the results and this will help me sketch up a plan for your treatment.” She gave Laleh a small bag and turned to me.. “Those are painkillers you can use for tonight but only if the pain gets unbearable. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
She walked us to the door and for the first time, I found myself looking forward to our next visit. Maybe if Laleh didn’t mention that Blaise was going to be home, I wouldn’t have left the hospital.
But knowing he would be there, my wolf and I became thrilled. My legs rushed to the car and throughout the drive, I could barely register the information Lalch was giving me.
My mind was on Blaise,
“Are you even listening to me?” Laleh asked and I blinked to find her staring at me with a smile on her face.
“I am sorry, I zoned out, I confessed and she threw her head back releasing that laughter I have come to love in just one day.
“You are thinking about Blaise again aren’t you?” She pushed the car’s door open and that was when I realized that we were already home.
“No I wasn’t,” I tried to lie but failed.
She waved her hand, still laughing. “It’s fine, you don’t have to hide your feelings. Come, let’s go find your mate.”
My cheeks were heated and I f
my wolf trying her best to get to the surface so she could also see Blaise but I kept her in.
But all of that excitement ended as we got to Blaise’s room.
My heart shattered as I watched the man I had been dreaming of all day, make out with someone else.
